We base our tour around the high tide, so we can arrange the time to suit your needs, depending on the tide. Simply phone us to book or inquire about departure times. Fare $45.00 Adult per person.

2 hours cruise is $35.00 Adult per person.

Children 5 and under free.

Children over 6 to 15 are $10.00 per child.

Brush walk trips

We now can offer you bush and farm walks on one of Mokau well known sites. This farm was use in the New Zealand Movie “The Piano”. Easy and hard Native forest walks (lead by the farm owner) are all possible.

Located near this farm are an old timber saw mill and several old coal mines. Mokau river history starts well before New Plymouth city was a village.

Farm stays are also possible.

Whitebait season Tours 15^th of August to 30^th November

Through the whitebait season the river bank are alive with local people fishing for their dinner. Each person has their own whitebait stand and their own unique way of fishing. Come and wave to these locals, the odd fisherman might even show you haw much they have caught that day, a very guarded secret.

Spring is the time of year that the fishing season stats. The best weather for good catches of whitebait is when it’s cold, damp and cloudy. You can enjoy a tour in the warmth and comfort of the M.V. GLENROYAL and try our whitebait lunch. It’s cooked on board as we travel along.
