Hi
Just a quick update to say we have been very busy but enjoying ourselves all the time. Most days we are out doing trips along the river. This summer we started to go further up the river than normal. This area of the river is hard to navigate as there are hidden logs and a large slip. In some cases the channel is less than 4 meters wide channel and the water is very shallow. The new sonar helps us here and the Glenroyal has a very strong steel hull.
Work progressing on widening the parking area and having a large turn around area for buses. Yep. We can take up to 60 people so bus trips are possible and then there still plenty of room to walk around and have a drink and food.
We also be working on the morning so it easy to board. There are no steps and hand rails just in case you don't want to swim. Most times we notice small fish around the boat and it morning. A small shark was even seen one day (not the 6 meters long one who now visiting Taranaki). The boat is actually improving the river bank as it protecting it from logs and other boat wash.
This month we are planning to install a new river morning down near the Mokau River Bridge. We will use this when we want to have a nice BBQ on the river.
If you have any news, web links, or photo's you think would be nice on this site. please email them to us. Ian very keen on anything to do with history. He help start the Mokau Museum and help to operate it.
